Gore Street Utility Project

The City of Cambridge and Divco West, developer of Cambridge Crossing, will be undertaking construction on Gore Street between Monsignor O’Brien Highway and Warren Street This construction is an opportunity to incorporate improvements into Gore Street; sidewalks, crosswalks, street trees improved access to the park, etc. 

construction update - Week of October 22, 2018

Water line relocation is ongoing between Lambert Street and 7th Street to allow for the new sanitary line to be installed. This work will continue for the next couple of weeks. Services may be impacted and notices will be distributed prior to the work taking place. Eversource gas work will finish working on Gore Street between 5th Street and 6th Street.

Utility work will continue on the Somerville end of Gore Street. This work entails excavation to install new sewer infrastructure to support the Cambridge Crossing Site located on the north side of Monsignor O’Brien Highway.

The new crew will complete work on the corner of Gore Street and Fifth Street, and then will be proceeding to Sciarappa Street before heading to Monsignor O'Brien Highway.

Sewer Main Construction

  • Work hours will be 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday, and Saturday 9 AM to 6 PM.  
  • There will be noise and disruption from construction activities.
  • Depending on the work planned, flyers may also be distributed to impacted residents. 
  • “No Parking” signs will be posted; please be sure to check dates/times.
  • Roadway and driveway access will be maintained but may be restricted at times.
  • Pedestrian access and access into properties will be maintained at all times but may be restricted in certain ways.
  • Emergency vehicles will have access at all times and all city services will continue.

Sewer main work is complete on Water Street, and the work will continue in the middle of Monsignor O'Brien Highway, before proceeding to Gore Street.

Construction continues on Monsignor O’Brien Highway between Third Street and Water Street.  The work will create two new pedestrian crosswalks, one at Third Street and one at Water Street, as well as raised bicycle lanes separated from traffic. These crosswalks will provide improved pedestrian access to and from the new Lechmere MBTA station.
